Another Month of smAwesome – July Update

Another month has passed us by and I can hardly believe it!

It’s actually pretty crazy to stop and think about what has happened over the last 31 days, and a lot of it is thanks to the great support (and awesome perks) that being a smOffice winner has made available! Being one of the lucky winners has been a tremendous boost to Tandempark’s growth and development. And while this may very well have been the single most transformative month in the company’s history, here are just a few highlights that I want to share:

Mentorship:

Where do I even begin with this one?? There is no doubt that Barrie has incredible business experts that not only know their stuff, but are happy to pass on any advice you ask for. Having met with each of them at least once this month, I’ve consistently been amazed at the insight and support they are willing to provide. My biggest challenge now is trying to keep up with the learning I’m gaining access to!

What kind of help am I getting? Here’s a taste:

Understanding the market and how to reach them – Angela Baldwin (Baldwin Planning and Development)
Crafting effective communication messages – Todd Palmer (Pratt Homes)
Developing brand awareness and roll-out options – Craig Busch (Busch Systems)
Planning strategically for future trends – Marc Castel (Maintenance Assistant)
Balancing work and life – Shelby Taylor (Earth To Kids)
Identifying opportunities and vulnerabilities – Chris Adams (gShift)

Is it any wonder I feel so lucky?

Barrie Life and Culture:

As I launch a company with my wife and a 1 year old in tow, it’s not often that we get a chance to take advantage of all that Barrie has to offer. So when I found out that part of the winnings included theatre tickets, I knew I had to take advantage of that opportunity. Thanks to Theatre By The Bay, not only were my wife and I able to enjoy seeing Faust performed at the Mady Centre, I was also able to treat my executive assistant to a matinée performance of Adventure Island!

I’ve also been able to activate the complementary membership to the Barrie Chamber of Commerce and get out to one of the Business After 5 meetups. That has already been helpful as I was able to make some amazing connections that evening!

Of course, I can’t leave out the weekly dose of Topper’s Pizza. It sure does help when deciding what we want for dinner is reduced to just deciding what toppings we want!

There are heaps of other perks that I haven’t been able to take advantage of yet but I’ve got big plans for August. After trying to find a day and time I can commit to, I think it’s about time I discover yoga (I said I would last month. Now it’s for real), get out to the gym, and got connected to a few more of our awesome sponsors!

It’s gonna be a busy month!

And as if that wasn’t enough of an update, wait till you hear what I have to say about the traction we’ve enjoyed this month!

But I think this is long enough for one post so come with me to read more!

(Maybe this should have been a newsletter…)
